7 Top Tips for Preparing for a Successful Boudoir Session

Ok, now that you’ve booked your boudoir shoot, you might be thinking “what do I have to do to prepare for my boudoir session?”

Booking a boudoir photoshoot can be a thrilling yet overwhelming experience. You might feel anxious, unsure, and self-conscious. However, you should know that you are not alone, and most women feel the same way. Instead of stressing out, take comfort in knowing that with the right preparation, you can make your boudoir session successful and empowering.

  1. Be open minded:

You’ve done the hardest part-booking! That first jump is the scariest part. The rest will all fall into place because you’ve selected true professionals for your experience. With that said, your stylists will ask you how you’d like your hair and makeup to be done and may have some ideas that could flatter you that you might not have considered before. The same goes for outfits! The Client Closet is pretty diverse in styles, and it doesn’t hurt to try on the strappy nothingness that will inevitably get pulled for you. There’s no problem if you don’t like something, but you JUST might find something magical that you didn’t think was possible. The poses will feel awkward, and that’s how you know they’re working!

  1. Treat Yourself:

Take time for yourself before your boudoir session. Schedule a manicure, pedicure, or go for a massage. Whatever makes you feel confident and beautiful, do it.

  1. Hydrate:

Drinking plenty of water is crucial to keep your skin hydrated, healthy, and glowing. Try to avoid alcohol, caffeine, and salty foods as they can dehydrate your skin and make you look bloated.

  1. Stretch:

While you don’t need to know any poses coming in, you need to know that this is a physical experience and stretching out your neck and back muscles will help reduce the soreness afterwards. That’s how we get those incredible back-arch shots!

  1. Don’t try anything new in your routine:

This isn’t the perfect time for a dramatic hairstyle change or a new facial that you’ve never had before just in case something goes wrong. Anything new should be tested out about a month before.

  1. Get Enough Sleep:

Getting enough sleep before your session is essential to reduce puffiness, dark circles, and bags under your eyes. Try to get at least eight hours of sleep the night before.

  1. Take a Deep Breath:

Take a deep breath and relax! You are beautiful, confident and sexy, and your boudoir session is an opportunity to celebrate yourself. Trust the process, enjoy yourself, and have fun.
